This receptacle is suited for hospital rooms, patient care areas, commercial offices, and similar installations where both tamper resistance and USB device charging are required at the same outlet location. The decorator-style form factor fits standard decorator wall plates and gang boxes. Designed as an OEM-style replacement or new-installation device compatible with standard single-gang and multi-gang decorator wall plates and electrical boxes wired with 14 to 10 AWG conductors on 15-amp branch circuits.
Installation must be performed by a licensed electrician in accordance with the National Electrical Code (NEC) and all applicable local codes. De-energize the branch circuit at the breaker panel and verify absence of voltage with a tester before wiring. Hospital-grade receptacles in patient care areas may be subject to additional inspection and testing requirements under NFPA 99.
