The HUBBELL SHC1028 is a straight male cord connector designed for liquidtight, strain-relieving termination of flexible cords in hazardous and demanding environments. Machined from aluminum, it accepts cords ranging from 0.75 to 0.88 inches in diameter and threads onto a 1/2 inch NPT hub. The one-piece connector body features machined threads for a strong, positive seal. A tapered interior dome drives the lubricated neoprene bushing evenly into the body, compressing it uniformly to create a liquidtight seal and added pull-out protection. The patented GOTCHA Ring uses a split hinge design to eliminate friction and deliver reliable strain relief. The orchid color coding identifies the sizing range at a glance for faster field installation.
The SHC1028 is rated for hazardous location applications and carries UL 514B and CSA approvals. It is suited for industrial, commercial, and process environments where moisture, dust, and mechanical abuse are concerns. Electricians and maintenance technicians install this connector where flexible cord enters a conduit hub, enclosure, or junction box requiring a sealed, strain-relieved connection. The NEMA 4/4X/12/13 and IP66 enclosure ratings make it appropriate for washdown areas, outdoor installations, and locations subject to directed water or heavy contamination. Temperature performance spans -30 to 225 degrees F, covering most industrial service conditions.
Designed as a straight male cord connector for use with 1/2 inch NPT conduit hubs and enclosure knockouts. Sized for flexible cords in the 0.75 to 0.88 inch outer diameter range. Form size F3.
Installation is typically performed by a licensed electrician in accordance with the NEC and applicable local codes for hazardous or industrial locations. De-energize the circuit and verify the enclosure is de-energized before making any connections. Hand-tighten the connector onto the NPT hub first, then wrench-tighten to ensure thread engagement without over-torquing the machined aluminum body. Confirm the neoprene bushing is fully seated and the GOTCHA Ring is locked before restoring power.
