The HUBBELL R10 is an explosion-proof conduit reducer designed to transition between 1/2 inch and 3/8 inch conduit entries in hazardous location electrical installations. This fitting reduces a larger threaded conduit opening to a smaller one, maintaining the integrity of the explosion-proof enclosure during the reduction. It is installed by licensed electricians working in classified hazardous areas where flammable gases, vapors, or combustible dust may be present. The R10 is a standard trade fitting used wherever explosion-proof conduit systems require a step-down between conduit sizes at a fitting, enclosure, or junction box entry.
This reducer is suited for use in industrial and commercial hazardous location wiring systems, including oil and gas facilities, chemical processing plants, refineries, grain handling operations, and similar classified environments. It threads directly into explosion-proof enclosures, conduit bodies, or fittings to adapt a 1/2 inch hub down to a 3/8 inch conduit entry. Installation follows NEC Article 500 requirements for hazardous location wiring methods.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or field-use fitting for explosion-proof conduit systems requiring a 1/2 inch to 3/8 inch threaded reduction at enclosure hubs or conduit body entries.
Installation must be performed by a qualified electrician in accordance with NEC Article 500 and applicable local codes governing hazardous location wiring. De-energize all circuits before opening any explosion-proof enclosure or conduit body. Apply listed thread sealant or conduit compound per code requirements to maintain explosion-proof integrity at all threaded joints. Do not use this fitting in a manner that compromises the explosion-proof rating of the connected enclosure.
