The HOWARD LEIGHT R-01526 is an electronic shooting earmuff designed for range use and hunting applications. It delivers a Noise Reduction Rating (NRR) of 22 in both powered-on and powered-off modes. When switched on, built-in directional stereo microphones amplify ambient sounds to a safe 82 dB, keeping the wearer aware of commands, communication, and environmental sounds. The unit actively monitors incoming noise and automatically cuts amplification the moment hazardous impulse sounds such as firearm discharges exceed 82 dB. Licensed HVAC, industrial, and range safety professionals recognize this type of active hearing protection as a standard tool in high-impulse noise environments.
The R-01526 is suited for shooting ranges, hunting, and general industrial environments where both hearing protection and situational awareness are required. Patented Air Flow Control technology enables a slim earcup profile that provides clearance for firearm stocks during shoulder mounting. The padded headband includes telescopic height adjustment for a customized fit across a range of head sizes. An external audio input jack supports connection to an MP3 player, scanner, or other audio source. The unit folds flat for compact storage and transport. Battery life is rated at approximately 350 hours, with an automatic 4-hour shutoff to conserve power.
Compatible for use with Howard Leight electronic earmuffs and safety eyewear as stated by the manufacturer. Designed as a standalone electronic hearing protection device suitable for shooting sport, hunting, and industrial noise environments.
No permanent installation is required. Inspect ear cushions before each use and ensure all hair is cleared from beneath the cushion seal to maintain proper attenuation. Follow all fitting instructions provided with the unit to achieve the rated NRR. Dispose of and replace batteries according to manufacturer guidance to ensure consistent electronic performance.
