The HOUGEN 6-12226 is a high speed steel annular cutter designed for clean, fast hole cutting in metal fabrication and structural steel applications. It measures 13/16 inches in diameter with a 6-inch depth of cut, making it well suited for through-cuts on deep sections or stacked material. The shank diameter is 3/4 inches with 2 flats for secure chuck engagement. Built from M2 grade high speed steel with a bright, uncoated finish, this cutter delivers consistent performance across a range of ferrous and non-ferrous metals. Licensed electricians, ironworkers, pipefitters, and general fabricators commonly use annular cutters like this one for clean-bore holes without the material waste of a twist drill.
The HOUGEN 6-12226 is appropriate for use on aluminum, mild steel, stainless steel, and general steel stock. The 6-inch depth of cut makes it a practical choice for deep-hole applications in structural fabrication, pipe fitting, and mechanical assembly where standard-depth cutters fall short. It is compatible with magnetic drill presses and any drill press arbor accepting a 3/4-inch, 2-flat shank. The M2 steel construction maintains edge hardness under the heat generated by extended cuts in harder materials like stainless steel.
Compatible with magnetic drill presses and drill press arbors that accept a 3/4-inch, 2-flat annular cutter shank. Suitable for cutting aluminum, mild steel, stainless steel, and general steel stock.
Annular cutters are installed by licensed machinists, ironworkers, pipefitters, and fabricators using magnetic drill presses or arbor-equipped drill presses. Secure the workpiece and confirm the magnetic drill base is fully engaged before starting a cut. Apply cutting fluid or lubricant when cutting stainless steel or thick mild steel to extend cutter life and reduce heat buildup. Inspect the 2-flat shank seating in the arbor before operation to ensure the set screw is fully engaged.
