The HOUGEN 18260 is a carbide-tipped annular cutter designed for fast, clean hole cutting in ferrous and non-ferrous metals. It cuts a 1.875-inch diameter hole to a full 2-inch depth of cut, removing only a thin ring of material rather than a solid slug, which reduces heat buildup and extends cutter life. The 3/4-inch shank diameter with 2 flats provides a secure, positive drive connection in compatible magnetic drill presses and arbors. The oxide straw finish helps protect the cutting edges between uses. Metalworkers, ironworkers, and fabricators rely on annular cutters like this one for structural steel, plate, and tube applications where precision hole location and repeatable geometry matter.
The HOUGEN 18260 is suited for use in stationary magnetic drill presses and bench-mounted drill press setups. It performs in a range of materials including mild steel, stainless steel, aluminum, and general structural steel. Typical applications include fabrication shops, ironworking, shipbuilding, and maintenance and repair operations where a clean, burr-minimal hole is required without pilot-hole drilling. The 2-inch depth of cut accommodates thicker plate and structural sections common in commercial and industrial metalworking.
Designed for use with magnetic drill presses and arbors accepting a 3/4-inch flatted shank. Compatible with mild steel, stainless steel, aluminum, and general structural steel workpieces.
Installation and use should be performed by qualified metalworkers or machinists familiar with magnetic drill press operation. Secure the magnetic base firmly to a clean, flat workpiece surface before engaging the cutter, and confirm the base magnet is fully energized before starting the cut. Always use the appropriate cutting fluid for the workpiece material to manage heat and extend cutter life. Inspect the cutting edges and shank flats for wear or damage before each use.
