The HOUGEN 12010 is a high speed steel annular cutter designed for fast, clean through-holes in ferrous and non-ferrous materials. With a cutter diameter of 29/64 inches (0.4531 inches decimal) and a cutting depth of 2 inches, it handles structural steel, mild steel, stainless steel, and aluminum in a single pass without a center drill. The 3/4-inch shank with two flats locks securely into compatible mag-drill chucks and arbors, preventing slippage under load. The bright, uncoated finish is standard for M2 high speed steel and is well suited to general fabrication and maintenance work where cutting fluid is used at the point of contact.
This cutter is used in fabrication shops, ironworking, structural steel erection, HVAC sheet metal work, plumbing rough-in, and general industrial maintenance. It is installed in magnetic drill presses and drill press arbors accepting a 3/4-inch, two-flat shank. Trades that commonly run this cutter include ironworkers, pipefitters, millwrights, and HVAC sheet metal technicians who need repeatable, burr-minimal holes in steel plate or tube without a full twist-drill setup.
Designed for use with magnetic drill presses and arbors that accept a 3/4-inch two-flat annular cutter shank. Suitable for cutting aluminum, mild steel, stainless steel, and structural steel per the material application data provided by the manufacturer.
Annular cutters are installed and serviced by qualified fabricators, ironworkers, and maintenance mechanics familiar with rotary cutting tools. Before installing or removing the cutter, ensure the magnetic drill press is powered off and unplugged. Seat the shank fully into the arbor and tighten the set screws against both flats to rated torque using the wrench specified by the drill manufacturer. Always use a cutting fluid or coolant appropriate for the workpiece material to extend cutter life and reduce heat buildup at the cutting edge.
