The HOUGEN 0130101 is a corded magnetic drill designed for metal fabrication, structural steel work, and heavy-duty drilling applications on ferrous surfaces. It runs on 115 volts at 9 amps, drawing 1,035 watts to drive a 5/8-inch chuck at 450 RPM through high-torque gearing. The drill provides 1 inch of travel depth and stands 6-11/16 inches tall overall. A built-in lift detector safety system cuts power if the magnetic base loses contact with the work surface, reducing the risk of uncontrolled movement during operation. This unit ships with a carrying case for transport between job sites. It is sized for trade professionals who need a compact, portable mag drill that handles up to 1-inch diameter hole production in steel.
The 0130101 is suited for structural steel erection, ironwork, shipbuilding, and metal fabrication environments where drilling into flat or curved ferrous steel surfaces is required. The magnetic base anchors directly to the workpiece, eliminating the need for a drill press or secondary clamping fixture. Feed handle positioning switches from side to side, which allows the operator to work in tight clearances or switch dominant hands as the job demands. Rear-mounted controls keep the operator away from the cutting zone during setup and cycle start.
Part of the HMD130 series. Designed as an OEM-compatible corded magnetic drill compatible with standard 5/8-inch shank annular cutters and twist drill bits rated for magnetic drill service.
Installation and operation should be performed by qualified metalworking tradespeople or ironworkers familiar with magnetic drilling equipment. Before mounting, verify that the target surface is clean, flat ferrous steel with sufficient thickness to hold the magnetic base securely. Inspect the power cord and plug for damage before connecting to a grounded 115-volt outlet. Never operate the drill on non-ferrous or painted surfaces that may reduce magnetic holding force below a safe threshold.
