The HORN 632040000TA45 is a solid carbide coated milling insert in the TA45 grade, designed for high-performance face and peripheral milling operations. Part of the Series 632, this insert features a positive rake geometry and a right-hand cutting orientation. With 6 cutting edges and a 0.24 inches thickness, it delivers consistent stock removal across demanding materials. Screw-held single-sided construction keeps the insert locked securely in the tool body during aggressive cuts. Licensed HVAC techs install control boards, but it is machinists and tooling professionals who install and index these inserts in CNC or manual milling setups.
This insert is suited for milling hard materials, cast iron, stainless steel, non-ferrous metals, steel, superalloys, and titanium. The TA45 grade coating is matched to ISO material codes H, K, M, N, P, and S, making it a versatile choice across a wide range of workpiece materials. The maximum depth of cut reaches 0.3267 inches (8.30 mm), and the inscribed circle measures 1.248 inches (31.70 mm). Typical applications include face milling, shoulder milling, and high-feed operations in production and job-shop environments where tool life and edge consistency are critical.
Designed for use in HORN Series 632 milling tool bodies requiring Insert Size 04 with a right-hand, screw-clamped single-sided insert configuration.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or tooling technician. Always power down and lock out the machine spindle before indexing or replacing inserts. Use the correct torx or hex key as specified by the tool body manufacturer to achieve proper clamping torque without overdriving the clamping screw. Inspect the insert pocket seating surface for chips or debris before seating a new insert to ensure accurate positioning and prevent premature edge failure.
