The HONEYWELL v88a1691/u is a 1.5-inch diaphragm gas valve designed for 24 VAC low-voltage service in gas-fired heating systems. The valve uses a diaphragm that is both weight-loaded and spring-loaded, ensuring a firm, positive close on every cycle. Maximum closing time is two seconds. On loss of power, the valve closes automatically, making it suited for final shutoff service. Opening time is field-adjustable using various sized bleed orifices or an adjustable bleed valve. The body is cast aluminum in a straight-through valve pattern. Licensed HVAC technicians and gas-fitting professionals are the primary installers of this valve.
The v88a1691/u is rated for use with natural gas, LP gas, and manufactured gas, making it a versatile fit across residential and light commercial heating applications. The 24 VAC control signal aligns with standard low-voltage thermostat and control-board wiring used in forced-air furnaces and similar gas appliances. The straight-through body pattern simplifies in-line installation in gas train piping. A valve position indicator is available as an accessory for installations where visual confirmation of valve status is required.
Designed for 24 VAC low-voltage gas-fired heating system service. Valve position indicator is available for the 1.25-inch model V48A2227. The V88 series is the 24 VAC counterpart to the V48 series, which is rated for line-voltage service.
Installation must be performed by a licensed HVAC technician or qualified gas-fitting professional in accordance with local codes and the applicable provisions of the International Fuel Gas Code (IFGC). Shut off the manual gas supply and de-energize the 24 VAC control circuit before removing the existing valve. Verify gas type, inlet pressure, and flow direction before installing the replacement valve. Leak-test all connections with an approved gas-leak detection solution after installation and before returning the system to service.
