The HONEYWELL PF65N is a potassium permanganate iron filter regenerant used in water treatment systems to remove dissolved iron and manganese from potable water supplies. As a strong oxidizing agent, it converts dissolved iron and manganese into insoluble oxides that are then captured through standard filtration. The PF65N is formulated to regenerate and reoxidize greensand iron filter media, restoring filter performance between service cycles. Each container holds 76 oz (5 lb) of NSF-certified material meeting NSF Standard 60 for drinking water treatment chemicals. Plumbers and water treatment technicians install and service these systems in residential and light commercial applications.
This regenerant is suited for greensand iron filtration systems where dissolved iron or manganese levels require consistent oxidation and media regeneration. It is applied during the regeneration cycle of iron filter systems, typically in residential well water setups where elevated iron or manganese content is present. Water treatment professionals use it as part of scheduled maintenance to keep filter media active and effective. No special mixing equipment is required beyond what is standard to the filtration system being serviced.
Designed as a standard potassium permanganate regenerant for greensand iron filter systems in residential and light commercial water treatment applications.
Potassium permanganate regenerants are handled and applied by licensed plumbers or certified water treatment technicians. Shut off the water supply and depressurize the filter vessel before opening the system for service. Follow the filter manufacturer's regeneration procedure and dosing instructions precisely, as overfeeding can result in permanganate carryover into the distribution line. Use appropriate chemical-resistant gloves and eye protection when handling the dry chemical.
