The HONEYWELL mgii-10 is a standard barometric draft damper designed to regulate flue draft in residential and light-commercial heating appliances. The unit ships with an integral collar sized at 10 inches for direct connection to a single-wall vent connector. Barometric draft dampers maintain consistent negative draft pressure by allowing dilution air into the breaching, protecting the appliance from over-draft or under-draft conditions that reduce efficiency and can cause combustion problems. Licensed HVAC technicians and plumbers install this control as part of a code-compliant venting system on appliances fired by natural gas, oil, wood, or coal.
The mgii-10 is suited for residential and light-commercial applications where a 10-inch vent connector exits a gas-fired furnace or boiler, an oil-fired unit, or a solid-fuel appliance burning wood or coal. The integral collar simplifies field installation by eliminating a separate adapter fitting. This damper is appropriate for use on B-vent and single-wall connectors that route combustion products to a masonry chimney or listed chimney liner.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or new-installation barometric draft damper for 10-inch vent connectors on natural gas, oil, wood, and coal-fired heating appliances.
Installation should be performed by a licensed HVAC technician or plumber in accordance with NFPA 54, NFPA 31, and local mechanical codes. Shut down and allow the appliance to cool completely before working on the venting system. Position the damper in the vent connector between the appliance flue collar and the chimney entrance, following the appliance and damper manufacturer orientation requirements. Do not install a barometric damper on a direct-vent or sealed-combustion appliance.
