The Honeywell Home Intrusion 5817XT is a 3 zone universal transmitter designed for wireless security system installations. It allows up to three separate hardwired sensing devices to be connected and reported independently over a single wireless link back to a compatible receiver. Licensed security technicians and alarm installers use the 5817XT to convert existing hardwired sensors into wireless endpoints, reducing the need for new wire runs during upgrades or retrofits. The transmitter fits into residential and light commercial security installations where flexibility in zone expansion is required.
The 5817XT is well suited for retrofit projects where hardwired door, window, or motion sensors are already in place but the panel is being converted to a wireless architecture. It is also used in new construction when running dedicated wiring to a panel is not practical. Each of the three supervised zones operates independently, so a single tamper, alarm, or trouble condition on one zone does not affect the reporting of the others. Security installation professionals typically deploy this transmitter in conjunction with compatible wireless receivers to expand zone capacity without additional conduit or wire.
Designed for use with compatible wireless security receivers and repeaters in residential and light commercial alarm systems. Refer to the system receiver documentation to confirm enrollment and frequency compatibility before installation.
Installation should be performed by a licensed alarm or low-voltage technician in accordance with local codes and the authority having jurisdiction. Power down or disarm the security panel before enrolling or wiring the transmitter to avoid unintended alarms or panel faults. Verify that the mounting location provides adequate RF range to the receiver, keeping the transmitter away from large metal objects and other RF sources that may cause interference. Follow the manufacturer installation guide for zone wiring termination and enrollment procedures.
