The HONEYWELL DB982 is a double cylinder deadbolt designed for residential door hardware applications. Constructed from steel with an antique brass finish, it features a 1 inch hardened throw bolt that is retracted by key from both the exterior and interior cylinders. The adjustable latch accommodates two standard backset dimensions, making it adaptable to a range of door preparations without requiring additional hardware. The square face deadbolt latch provides a clean, flush fit against the door edge. This deadbolt is intended for installation by locksmiths, general contractors, or experienced maintenance technicians.
The DB982 is suited for residential entry doors where a double cylinder configuration is required. The adjustable backset supports both 2-3/8 inch and 2-3/4 inch backset dimensions, covering the most common door prep standards found in residential construction. The unit uses the Kwikset keyway, allowing compatibility with existing Kwikset-keyed hardware on the same property for simplified key management. When ordering in case quantities of 24 units, the product ships with 4 sets of 6 keyed-alike cylinders, which is useful for property management and multi-unit residential applications.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or new-installation deadbolt for standard residential doors prepped for single-hole deadbolt hardware with 2-3/8 inch or 2-3/4 inch backsets and a Kwikset keyway.
Installation is performed by a licensed locksmith or qualified door hardware technician. Ensure the door is properly aligned and the strike plate mortise is correctly positioned before final installation. Double cylinder deadbolts may be subject to local fire and building code restrictions regarding egress — verify compliance with applicable codes before installation. No key should be left in the interior cylinder in a manner that conflicts with local egress requirements.
