The Honeywell 84207 is an 18 AWG, 8-conductor thermostat wire cable supplied on a 250-foot spool. It features bare copper conductors with PVC insulation and a PVC outer jacket, meeting CL2 classification for in-wall low-voltage wiring applications. Rated for temperatures from -20 to 60 degrees F, this cable is built for reliable signal transmission in residential and light commercial HVAC control circuits. HVAC technicians and electricians use this cable when running new thermostat wiring or replacing deteriorated wire during system upgrades or new construction installs. The 250-foot spool length reduces mid-run splices on longer runs.
This cable is suited for low-voltage thermostat and control wiring in residential and light commercial heating, cooling, and heat pump systems. The 8-conductor configuration supports multi-stage and multi-zone systems, heat pump wiring with auxiliary and emergency heat circuits, and zoning control boards that require additional conductors. It is commonly pulled through walls, attics, and conduit during new construction or retrofit work where additional conductors are needed for modern communicating or multi-stage equipment.
Designed as a standard CL2-rated 18 AWG thermostat cable compatible with low-voltage HVAC control systems, thermostats, zone controllers, and control boards requiring up to 8 conductors.
Installation should be performed by a licensed HVAC technician or electrician in accordance with NEC Article 725 governing Class 2 low-voltage wiring. Power down the HVAC system and thermostat circuit at the breaker before making any wiring connections. Avoid running low-voltage thermostat wire in the same conduit as line-voltage conductors. Verify conductor count and wire labeling at both ends before terminating to control boards or thermostats.
