The HONEYWELL 84203 is an 18 AWG, 4-conductor thermostat wire cable rated CL2 and supplied on a 250-foot spool. It features bare copper conductors with PVC insulation and a PVC outer jacket, making it a standard choice for low-voltage control wiring in residential and light commercial HVAC systems. The cable is UL and ETL listed, meeting the CL2 classification required for in-wall thermostat wiring runs. HVAC technicians and installers use this wire to connect thermostats, zone controllers, and control boards to heating and cooling equipment. The 250-foot spool provides enough length for multiple residential jobs or a single larger commercial run.
This cable is suited for low-voltage thermostat and control circuit installations in forced-air furnaces, air handlers, heat pumps, and zone control systems. The 4-conductor configuration supports common heating and cooling wiring configurations, including systems that require separate heating, cooling, fan, and common wire runs. It is appropriate for both new construction and retrofit applications where in-wall or exposed conduit routing is used. The temperature rating of -20 to 60 degrees F covers standard installation environments in unconditioned spaces such as attics and crawlspaces.
Designed as a standard CL2-rated low-voltage control cable for use with residential and light commercial thermostats, zone controllers, and HVAC control boards that accept 18 AWG thermostat wire.
Installation should be performed by a licensed HVAC technician or qualified electrician in accordance with NEC Article 725 for Class 2 low-voltage wiring. Power down the HVAC system at the disconnect or breaker before making any wire connections. Avoid routing thermostat wire in the same conduit as line-voltage wiring, as interference can affect control signal integrity. Secure the cable at appropriate intervals and protect it from physical damage in exposed locations.
