The HOMEWERKS WORLDWIDE 545-12-12-B is a CPVC-to-brass transition union designed to connect 1/2 inch CPVC slip socket piping to 1/2 inch female iron pipe (FIP) threaded metal connections. This fitting compensates for the difference in thermal expansion coefficients between CPVC and metal pipe, making it suitable for hot water distribution systems where expansion and contraction cycles occur regularly. The brass construction meets low-lead compliance standards, with no more than 0.25% weighted average lead content on wetted surfaces. A licensed plumber installs this fitting when transitioning from CPVC supply lines to metal threaded connections in residential or light commercial hot water applications.
This transition union is used in residential and light commercial potable water systems where CPVC piping meets threaded metal pipe or metal valve bodies. Typical installations include hot water supply lines connecting to water heaters, shut-off valves, or distribution manifolds. A CPVC coupling is required separately to complete the CPVC-side connection. The union design allows the piping system to be disassembled without cutting pipe, which simplifies future service or valve replacement work.
Designed as an OEM-style transition fitting for 1/2 inch CPVC hot and cold water supply systems connecting to 1/2 inch female iron pipe threaded metal components. A separate CPVC coupling is required for installation.
Installation is performed by a licensed plumber in accordance with the International Plumbing Code (IPC) and applicable local codes governing CPVC and brass fittings in potable water systems. Shut off the water supply and relieve system pressure before beginning work. Solvent-cement the CPVC slip side using CPVC-rated primer and cement; do not use PVC cement. Apply pipe thread sealant or PTFE tape to the FIP threaded connection before assembly.
