The HOLO-KROME 76488 is a metric hex socket cap screw designed for high-strength fastening applications in industrial, mechanical, and structural assemblies. Sized at M20 x 2.50 with a 45 mm length under head (approximately 1.77 inches), this fastener is fully threaded and driven with a standard hex (Allen) key. It is manufactured from alloy steel to material grade 12.9, the highest common grade for metric socket cap screws, indicating a minimum tensile strength of 1220 MPa. The black oxide coating provides mild corrosion resistance and reduces light reflection in finished assemblies. Machinists, millwrights, maintenance mechanics, and industrial assemblers regularly specify this fastener for high-load bolted joints.
This screw is suited for use in heavy equipment, machine tool frames, industrial fixtures, and structural fastening where a recessed drive and high clamp load are required. The fully threaded configuration allows engagement along the entire shank length, making it appropriate for through-bolt applications or shorter threaded boss depths. It conforms to ANSI B1.13M, DIN 912, ISO 4762, and ISO 898-1 standards, making it interchangeable with DIN 912-spec hardware across global equipment platforms.
Designed as a direct replacement or specification-grade fastener for any application requiring a DIN 912 or ISO 4762 M20 x 2.50 socket head cap screw at grade 12.9.
Installation should be performed by a qualified mechanic or industrial assembler using a correctly sized hex key or socket bit to avoid drive recess damage. Always consult the equipment manufacturer or engineering specification for required torque values before tightening grade 12.9 fasteners, as overtorque can cause fastener or joint failure. Clean and inspect threaded bores before installation and apply thread lubricant or thread-locking compound only when called out in the assembly specification.
