The HOLO-KROME 76408 is a metric hex socket cap screw designed for high-strength fastening applications requiring precise torque control and a low-profile head. Manufactured from alloy steel to material grade 12.9, it delivers exceptional tensile strength for demanding structural and mechanical assemblies. The black oxide coating provides a base level of corrosion resistance and reduces light reflection, making it suitable for both industrial and precision equipment environments. The screw measures M12 x 1.75 thread pitch with a 90 mm length under head and is partially threaded, allowing it to clamp mating components without threading engagement through the full grip length. It is driven with a hex socket tool.
This fastener is appropriate for use in machinery, tooling fixtures, equipment frames, and structural assemblies where high clamp loads and close tolerances are required. The 12.9 material grade rating makes it suitable for applications where standard-grade fasteners would be undersized for the load. It is commonly installed by machinists, millwrights, mechanical contractors, and maintenance technicians working on industrial and commercial equipment. Partial threading supports accurate bolt-hole alignment and bearing-surface clamping across a defined grip zone.
Designed as a standard metric hex socket cap screw conforming to DIN 912 and ISO 4762, suitable for use in any application or fixture that accepts an M12 x 1.75 partially threaded socket head cap screw to those dimensional standards.
Installation should be performed by qualified mechanical or maintenance personnel using a calibrated hex socket key or driver sized for M12 socket head cap screws. Ensure the mating threaded hole or nut meets the load requirements of a grade 12.9 fastener before assembly. Lubrication of the threads and bearing surface is recommended where specified by the equipment manufacturer to achieve accurate torque-to-clamp-load results. Do not mix grade 12.9 fasteners with lower-grade hardware in the same joint without an engineering review.
