The HOLO-KROME 60088 is a flat socket cap screw designed for applications where a flush or countersunk fastener head is required. It features an 82-degree flat head profile driven by a 3/16-inch hex socket. Manufactured from alloy steel with a black oxide finish, this screw provides solid corrosion resistance in moderate-exposure environments. The 5/16-18 UNC thread is partially threaded along a 2-inch overall length, and the 3A thread fit class ensures a precise, consistent fit in mating hardware. Hardness is rated at 39-44 HRC, making it suitable for high-strength fastening requirements.
This flat socket cap screw is used in mechanical assemblies, tooling fixtures, machine frames, and industrial equipment where the fastener head must sit flush with or below the mating surface. The black oxide alloy steel construction suits interior or lightly protected environments. Partially threaded shanks provide clamping force across joints without thread engagement in the clearance section, which is useful in two-piece sandwich assemblies and precision fixtures. Typically installed by machinists, millwrights, or maintenance technicians using standard hex key tooling.
Designed as an inch-series UNC flat socket cap screw per ASME B18.3 and ASTM F835, suitable for standard 5/16-18 tapped holes in steel, aluminum, and other machinable materials requiring a countersunk fastener seating.
Installation requires a properly countersunk or flat-bottomed socket hole machined to the correct 82-degree included angle to achieve full head seating. Use the appropriate 3/16-inch hex key or socket driver and ensure the mating tapped hole meets 5/16-18 UNC thread specifications before installation. De-energize and lock out any machinery before servicing fastened assemblies. Do not exceed recommended torque values for the alloy steel grade and thread size per applicable industry references.
