The HOLO-KROME 60072 is a flat socket cap screw designed for applications requiring a flush or countersunk fastener profile. It features an 82-degree flat head driven by a 5/32-inch hex socket and is partially threaded along its 2-inch overall length with a 1/4-20 UNC thread form. Manufactured from alloy steel with a black oxide finish, this screw carries a hardness rating of 39 to 44 HRC, making it suitable for high-stress mechanical assemblies. Licensed HVAC technicians, millwrights, electricians, and general mechanical contractors routinely specify this type of fastener when panel flush-mount or equipment frame installations call for a countersunk drive point.
This screw is well suited for use in light-to-medium industrial equipment, electrical enclosures, mechanical panels, and structural component assemblies where a protruding head is not acceptable. The black oxide finish provides mild corrosion resistance and reduces light reflection in service environments. The 3A thread fit class ensures consistent engagement tolerances with mating tapped holes. It ships in individual piece packaging with a minimum order quantity of 100 pieces, making it practical for shop stock or larger installation projects.
Designed as a standard-dimension inch-series flat socket cap screw conforming to ASME B18.3 and ASTM F835, suitable for use in any tapped assembly specifying a 1/4-20 UNC countersunk hex socket fastener.
Installation should be performed by qualified mechanical or electrical tradespeople using a calibrated 5/32-inch hex key or socket driver. Ensure the mating countersunk hole is machined to the correct 82-degree included angle before installation. De-energize and lock out all equipment per OSHA and applicable NEC or local codes before fastening into any electrical enclosure or panel. Do not substitute driver sizes, as improper fit can damage the socket recess or cause cam-out under torque.
