The HOLO-KROME 08116 is a hex socket shoulder screw machined from Grade 8 alloy steel, designed for precision fastening applications where a smooth, close-tolerance shoulder is required. The screw features a 5/8-inch shoulder diameter and a 3-1/4-inch shoulder length, providing a reliable bearing or pivot surface in mechanical assemblies. The 1/2-13 UNC threaded section measures 3/4 inch in length. An overall length of 4-3/8 inches and an uncoated finish make this fastener well suited for use in machinery, fixtures, tooling, and industrial equipment. It is installed by machinists, millwrights, and maintenance technicians using a 5/16-inch hex key.
This shoulder screw is used in industrial and commercial mechanical assemblies where a precisely ground shoulder serves as a shaft, guide pin, or pivot point. Common applications include jigs, fixtures, cams, linkages, and conveyor components. The rounded head profile and hex socket drive allow installation in counterbored holes with limited overhead clearance. It is sold and packaged individually, making it suitable for low-quantity repair and maintenance work as well as production builds.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or standard-fit shoulder screw for industrial machinery, tooling fixtures, and mechanical assemblies requiring a 5/8-inch shoulder diameter and 1/2-13 UNC thread per ASME B18.3.
Shoulder screws are typically installed by machinists or maintenance technicians using a calibrated 5/16-inch hex key or driver. De-energize and lock out all equipment before removing or installing fasteners in live machinery per applicable OSHA lockout-tagout procedures. The mating counterbore should be machined to the shoulder diameter tolerance specified in ASME B18.3 to ensure proper fit and function. Do not use an impact driver on socket head shoulder screws, as this can damage the hex socket recess or over-stress the threaded section.
