The HOLO-KROME 01112 is a standard dowel pin used to align, locate, and retain mating components in precision assemblies. Manufactured from Grade 8 alloy steel with a black luster finish, it delivers the hardness and surface quality required for tight-tolerance applications. The pin measures 7/16 inch in diameter and 1.2500 inches in length, with a diameter tolerance of -0.0001 to 0.0001 inches — well within ASME B18.8.2 requirements. One end is beveled and one end is rounded, which aids insertion and reduces the risk of galling during installation. Machinists, toolmakers, and maintenance technicians working on jigs, fixtures, dies, and machine components are the primary installers.
This dowel pin is suited for use in industrial and manufacturing environments where precise component alignment is critical. Typical applications include fixture plates, die sets, mold components, and machinery frames where repeatable, accurate registration between parts is required. The alloy steel construction handles shear loads common in these assemblies, and the black luster finish provides a degree of surface protection in dry or lightly oiled environments. Sold individually, with a minimum order quantity of 40 units.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or new-installation dowel pin for precision alignment applications in jigs, fixtures, dies, and machine assemblies that call for a 7/16 inch diameter standard dowel pin per ASME B18.8.2.
Dowel pins are typically installed by machinists or maintenance technicians using an arbor press or dead-blow mallet into reamed holes sized to the specified interference or transition fit. Always clean and deburr the mating holes before pressing in the pin, and never drive a hardened dowel pin with a steel hammer directly on the pin face. Verify hole depth allows full pin seating without bottoming interference before press-fitting.
