The HILLMAN FASTENERS 967624 is a black phosphate drywall screw engineered for high-volume drywall installation in residential and light commercial construction. At 1-5/8 inches in length with a No. 6 gauge, this fastener features a Phillips bugle head and coarse thread configuration — the standard combination for securing gypsum board to wood framing. The black phosphate coating reduces friction during drive and provides basic corrosion resistance for interior applications. This bucket pack contains 5000 pieces and is sized as a 1/4 keg quantity, making it practical for contractors running continuous drywall crews.
These screws are intended for drywall installation to wood studs and blocking in interior wall and ceiling assemblies. The 1-5/8 inch length suits single-layer 1/2 inch or 5/8 inch drywall panels where full thread penetration into the stud is required. Coarse thread geometry pulls the panel tight against framing and resists back-out after setting. The bugle head profile countersinks flush without tearing the drywall face paper, leaving a clean dimple for finishing. Suitable for production framing, remodel work, and tenant improvement projects where drywall fastener volume is high.
Designed as a standard coarse-thread drywall screw suitable for securing 1/2 inch and 5/8 inch gypsum board panels to wood framing members in interior wall and ceiling assemblies.
These screws are installed by drywall hangers and general carpenters using a dimpler-equipped screw gun or drill-driver set to the correct clutch depth. Drive screws to a slight dimple — do not overtighten or break the face paper. Fastener spacing should follow applicable building code and gypsum board manufacturer requirements. No pre-drilling is required for standard wood framing applications.
