The HILLMAN FASTENERS 48402 is a No. 10 by 2.5-inch green ceramic-coated exterior deck screw designed for outdoor wood fastening applications. The green ceramic coating passes a 1500-hour salt spray test, making it suitable for treated lumber and other corrosive environments. A self-drilling cut point eliminates the need for pre-drilling in most dimensional lumber, and the coarse serrated thread pattern provides strong pull-through resistance. Each box contains 5 pounds of screws and carries a lifetime warranty. Licensed contractors, deck builders, and experienced DIYers install these fasteners using a star-drive bit.
These screws are intended for exterior deck construction, framing connections, and general outdoor wood fastening where corrosion resistance is a primary concern. The green ceramic coating is specifically formulated to resist the chemical reaction between ACQ and other pressure-treated lumber formulations and standard fastener coatings. The self-drilling point and coarse serrated thread make them well suited for softwood decking boards, treated joists, and similar structural wood members in residential and light commercial applications.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement and standard fastener for exterior deck construction using pressure-treated lumber, cedar, redwood, and composite-friendly wood substructures where corrosion-resistant coated screws are required.
Install using a star-drive bit matched to the drive recess size to prevent cam-out and fastener damage. Power down or disconnect any live tools before changing bits or clearing jams. Always follow local building codes regarding fastener spacing, penetration depth, and corrosion-resistance ratings for treated lumber. Do not substitute these screws in applications requiring hot-dipped galvanized or stainless steel fasteners where local code mandates those specific materials.
