The HILLMAN FASTENERS 47285 is a zinc truss head self-drilling lath screw designed for fastening metal lath to steel framing and furring channels. The self-drilling point eliminates the need for a pilot hole, speeding up installation on job sites. Each screw measures 0.5 inches in length and is sized No. 8, making it well suited for thin-gauge metal lath attachment in wall and ceiling assemblies. The zinc coating provides basic corrosion resistance for interior applications. Packaged in a box of 12, this SKU is sold by the box.
This lath screw is used in residential and light commercial interior framing and plastering applications. It is a standard fastener for attaching metal lath to cold-rolled channels, hat channels, and light-gauge steel studs prior to plaster or stucco base coat application. The truss head profile provides a wide bearing surface that resists pull-through on open-mesh lath material, keeping the lath seated flush against the substrate during and after installation.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement and standard-use fastener for metal lath attachment applications on light-gauge steel framing and furring systems in interior wall and ceiling assemblies.
Installation is typically performed by plastering contractors, drywall mechanics, or general framing tradespeople. Power down any electrical circuits running behind the framing cavity before fastening into wall assemblies. Use a screw gun or drill driver set to the appropriate clutch depth to avoid overdriving the truss head through the lath mesh. Verify that substrate steel gauge is within the rated range for self-drilling fasteners before use.
