The HILLMAN FASTENERS 41601 is a No. 10 x 3 inch flat countersunk head wood screw with a No. 2 square recess drive, sold in a 25-pack. Manufactured from Type 305 stainless steel, this fastener resists corrosion in wet, outdoor, and chemically active environments. The flat countersunk head sits flush with or below the work surface when fully driven, making it a common choice for decking, trim, and exterior structural applications. Licensed tradespeople and experienced installers specify Type 305 stainless for applications where standard zinc-plated or coated fasteners would corrode prematurely.
This screw is suited for residential and light commercial construction projects including deck framing and decking boards, exterior wood trim, dock and marine woodwork, and general outdoor structural assemblies. The square recess drive provides positive bit engagement and reduces cam-out during installation, which is important when driving longer screws into dense hardwoods or composite materials. The 25-pack quantity is appropriate for small jobs or as a jobsite top-off supply.
Designed as a general-purpose flat countersunk stainless steel wood screw compatible with standard No. 2 square recess driver bits used in typical exterior wood and decking fastening applications.
Installation is performed with a No. 2 square recess (Robertson) driver bit using a power drill or impact driver set to an appropriate clutch setting to avoid overdriving. Pre-drilling a pilot hole is recommended in hardwoods and dense composites to prevent splitting and to ensure the countersunk head seats properly. Follow applicable building codes, including IRC or IBC fastener schedule requirements, for structural decking and framing connections. Stainless steel fasteners should not be stored or used in direct contact with dissimilar metals in high-moisture environments to prevent galvanic corrosion.
