The HILLMAN FASTENERS 41423 is a mushroom head, snap-in toggle bolt designed for anchoring into hollow walls and ceilings. The toggle mechanism springs open behind the wall surface to distribute load across a wider area, making it suitable for mounting fixtures, brackets, and other hardware in drywall, plaster, or similar hollow substrates. Each bolt measures 1/8 inch in diameter and 4 inches in length. The package contains 12 bolts. Electricians, plumbers, and general contractors routinely use toggle bolts when a solid stud or joist is not accessible at the mounting location.
This toggle bolt is used in light commercial and residential construction and service work. Typical applications include mounting electrical boxes, conduit supports, pipe hangers, duct supports, and fixture brackets in hollow drywall or plaster walls and ceilings. The snap-in design allows the toggle wing to be pre-attached to the bolt before insertion, simplifying single-handed installation in confined spaces.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or standard-stock toggle bolt for hollow wall and ceiling anchoring applications in residential and light commercial settings.
Toggle bolts are installed by a licensed electrician, plumber, or general tradesperson depending on the fixture being mounted. Drill a pilot hole sized to allow the folded toggle wing to pass through cleanly. Insert the toggle, allow the wing to spring open behind the substrate, then tighten the bolt until the mushroom head seats firmly against the surface. Do not overtighten, as excessive torque can pull the toggle through brittle substrates such as plaster.
