The HILLMAN 122505 is a bright wire brad nail designed for fine finish and detail carpentry work. At 3/4 inch in length and 17 gauge in diameter, this brad features a small cupped head sized to sink flush or slightly below the wood surface, allowing filler or putty to conceal the fastener. The slim shank minimizes splitting in trim, molding, and thin stock. Sold in a 2 oz hang package, this nail is suited for light-duty fastening tasks where a clean finished appearance is required. Finish carpenters and trim installers reach for these brads when working delicate materials where larger fasteners would cause visible damage.
These wire brad nails are used in residential and light commercial finish carpentry applications. Typical uses include attaching decorative molding, door and window casing, baseboards, chair rail, and thin wood trim. The small head profile and 17 gauge shank make them well suited for hardwood veneer trim and pre-finished millwork where nail hole visibility must be minimized. Compatible with brad nailers chambered for 17 gauge fasteners or can be driven by hand with a finish hammer and nail set.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement fastener for light-duty finish and detail carpentry applications where a 17 gauge, 3/4 inch brad nail is specified.
Brad nails of this type are driven by a finish carpenter using either a 17 gauge pneumatic brad nailer or a standard finish hammer with a nail set. When hand-driving, use a nail set to sink the head below the wood surface without leaving hammer marks on finished trim. Fill the countersunk hole with wood putty or caulk before painting or staining. Wear appropriate eye protection when driving fasteners.
