The HERTEL SZ20020C is a solid carbide abrasive bur with a cone with point end head geometry, designed for aggressive material removal in tight or contoured areas. Built to the SM-3 industry specification, it features a double cut tooth style that shears material in both rotational directions, producing faster stock removal and a smoother finish than single cut patterns. The 1/4 inch shank fits standard rotary tools and die grinders used throughout metalworking, fabrication, and maintenance trades. The uncoated solid carbide construction handles hardened steels, cast iron, and non-ferrous metals without chipping or deflecting under load.
This bur is suited for deburring, port work, weld blending, and surface preparation on metal workpieces in both shop and field environments. Fabricators, tool-and-die technicians, pipefitters, and maintenance machinists reach for cone-with-point burs when working in tapered bores, chamfers, recessed weld joints, and areas where a flat or ball-end profile cannot reach. The 1 inch length of cut gives adequate reach into most standard access points without sacrificing rigidity. Sold individually, it fits into a single-unit replacement workflow without requiring a minimum bulk purchase.
Designed as an SM-3 specification cone bur for use with any die grinder or rotary tool accepting a 1/4 inch collet or chuck.
Installation is performed by a machinist, fabricator, or maintenance technician using a die grinder or rotary tool equipped with a 1/4 inch collet. Power down and de-energize the tool completely before inserting or removing the bur. Ensure the shank is fully seated and the collet nut is tightened to the tool manufacturer specification before operation. Always wear appropriate eye protection and verify that spindle speed does not exceed the maximum RPM rated for the bur diameter in use.
