The HERTEL SZ0029B is a solid carbide abrasive bur with a ball head shape, intended for material removal, deburring, and surface finishing in metalworking and fabrication applications. The bur features a 3/8 inch cutting diameter and a 1/4 inch shank diameter, making it compatible with standard die grinders and rotary tools. The double cut tooth style produces a faster stock removal rate with a smoother finish compared to single cut geometry. The uncoated solid carbide head provides hardness and wear resistance suited to ferrous and non-ferrous metals, castings, and hard plastics. This bur is a single-piece unit sold individually.
This bur is suited for use in tool and die shops, aerospace and automotive fabrication, welding prep and cleanup, and general metalworking environments. It is commonly used to enlarge or blend holes, remove casting flash, and shape or contour workpiece surfaces in tight areas where larger tooling cannot reach. The 1/4 inch shank fits the collets found on most air-powered and electric die grinders used by machinists, maintenance technicians, and fabricators.
Designed as a standard SD-3 specification abrasive bur with a 1/4 inch shank, compatible with die grinders and rotary tools that accept 1/4 inch collets.
This bur is installed by machinists and fabricators using standard die grinder collet procedures. Ensure the grinder is fully powered down and depressurized before changing burs. Verify the collet size matches the 1/4 inch shank before tightening. Always wear appropriate eye and face protection when operating rotary burs, and confirm the grinder RPM rating meets or exceeds the bur manufacturer recommendation.
