The HERTEL SZ0012F is a solid carbide abrasive bur with a flame head profile, designed for material removal, deburring, and surface finishing in metalworking and fabrication applications. It features a double cut tooth style that produces faster stock removal with a smoother finish than single cut alternatives. The 5/8-inch cutting diameter and 1-7/16-inch length of cut make it well suited for contouring, blending, and shaping in confined areas. The uncoated solid carbide head provides the hardness and heat resistance needed for demanding cutting tasks on ferrous and non-ferrous materials. It is installed in a standard die grinder or rotary tool using its 1/4-inch shank.
This bur is used in maintenance, repair, and fabrication settings where precise material removal is required. Typical applications include weld blending, port matching, mold and die work, and deburring cast or machined components. It is appropriate for use on steel, cast iron, aluminum, and similar hard materials. The flame head geometry allows access to curved surfaces, chamfers, and internal contours that flat or cylindrical profiles cannot reach effectively. Machinists, tool and die makers, and general fabricators are the primary users of this style of bur.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or direct-use carbide bur meeting SH-6 industry specifications, compatible with any rotary tool or die grinder accepting a 1/4-inch shank.
Installation and use should be performed by machinists or fabricators familiar with rotary cutting tools. Ensure the die grinder or rotary tool is fully powered off and the collet is secure before inserting or removing the bur. Verify that the tool's rated RPM is appropriate for the bur diameter before operation. Always wear appropriate eye protection and follow applicable shop safety standards when operating carbide rotary burs.
