The HERTEL R837559-S is a standard NPT pipe tap designed to cut 3/4-14 taper pipe threads in ferrous and non-ferrous materials. Manufactured from high-speed steel with a bright, uncoated finish, this tap delivers reliable thread cutting performance in production and maintenance environments. The 5-flute geometry provides good chip clearance and stable cutting action through the full thread length of 1.375 inches. The short projection design positions the cutting action close to the shank, improving rigidity in hand tapping and machine tapping operations. Plumbers, pipefitters, machinists, and maintenance technicians reach for this tap when threading pipe connections in steel fittings, flanges, and manifolds.
This tap is suited for threading 3/4-inch NPT connections in pipe, fittings, valves, and fabricated assemblies across residential and commercial plumbing, HVAC piping, and industrial maintenance applications. The NPT taper thread form creates a pressure-sealing thread when properly torqued with compatible pipe fittings and thread sealant. It is appropriate for use in both hand tap wrenches and tapping machines where short-projection taps are required. The 0.9063-inch shank diameter and 0.6790-inch square size are compatible with standard tap holders and wrenches in this size class.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or direct-fit tap for 3/4-14 NPT threading applications. Compatible with standard tap wrenches and tapping machine holders accepting a 0.9063-inch shank diameter and 0.6790-inch square drive size.
This tap is installed by a machinist, pipefitter, or plumber using a tap wrench or tapping machine set to the correct speed for the workpiece material. Apply a suitable cutting oil or tapping fluid throughout the threading operation to reduce heat and extend tap life. Back the tap out periodically to clear chips, particularly in blind-hole applications. Always start the tap square to the drilled hole to avoid thread misalignment or tap breakage.
