The HERTEL R127735K-S is an interrupted thread pipe tap designed for cutting 3/4-14 NPT threads in pipe fittings, valves, and threaded ports across plumbing, HVAC, and industrial piping applications. Built from high speed steel with a chrome plated finish, this tap delivers consistent thread form and extended tool life in ferrous and non-ferrous materials. The interrupted thread geometry reduces cutting friction and helps clear chips more efficiently than standard continuous-thread taps. At 3.25 inches overall length with a 1.375-inch thread length, it fits standard tap handles and machine spindles used by licensed plumbers, pipefitters, and HVAC technicians.
This tap is suited for threading pipe ports and fittings in residential and light commercial plumbing and HVAC systems where NPT connections are standard. Typical applications include tapping bosses on manifolds, valve bodies, pump housings, and pipe caps. The regular hook angle makes it appropriate for hand tapping as well as low-speed machine tapping in a drill press or tapping head. The 5-flute configuration provides more cutting edges per revolution, which improves thread finish and surface quality in through and blind NPT port applications.
Designed for cutting 3/4-14 NPT threads per ANSI pipe thread standards. Fits standard tap wrenches and machine tap holders sized for a 0.906-inch shank diameter.
This tool is installed and operated by licensed plumbers, pipefitters, or HVAC technicians performing pipe thread cutting on metal workpieces. Always secure the workpiece firmly before tapping and use an appropriate cutting fluid to extend tap life and improve thread quality. For machine tapping, use a low-speed setting with a tapping head to allow for torque relief. Inspect the tap for wear or chipping before each use and replace if cutting edges are damaged to avoid thread damage in the workpiece.
