The HERTEL MR46-1149.563 is a solid carbide chucking reamer designed for precision hole finishing in metalworking and machining applications. With a 2.92 mm reamer diameter and a tight tolerance of 0.0000 to +0.0003 mm, this tool delivers accurate, repeatable bore sizing. The spiral flute geometry with left-hand spiral direction promotes smooth chip evacuation while the right-hand cutting direction maintains conventional feed behavior. Four flutes provide a stable cutting action suited for finishing bores to close dimensional tolerances. The straight cylindrical shank allows direct mounting in standard chucking collets or drill chucks on CNC machining centers, lathes, and drilling machines. Machinists and tool-and-die technicians are the primary users of this tool.
This reamer is suited for finish-reaming small-diameter bores in ferrous and non-ferrous materials where dimensional accuracy is critical. With an overall length of 75 mm and a flute length of 14 mm, the tool is compact and optimized for shallow bore finishing operations. The bright, uncoated carbide surface is appropriate for general-purpose reaming where coating is not required by the application. Typical use cases include precision component manufacturing, jig and fixture work, and production machining environments where consistent bore size must be maintained across multiple parts.
Designed as an OEM-style chucking reamer for use in CNC machining centers, lathes, and drilling machines equipped with standard straight-shank toolholders or collet chucks accepting the appropriate shank diameter.
Installation of chucking reamers should be performed by a qualified machinist following established shop practices. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and the tool is securely seated and tightened in the collet or chuck before operation. Select appropriate cutting speed and feed rate for the workpiece material and reamer diameter to avoid tool deflection or bore oversize. Do not use this reamer as a drill — always pre-drill or bore the hole to within the recommended stock allowance before reaming.
