The HERTEL MR34-0720.406 is a solid carbide chucking reamer designed for precision hole finishing in machined components. With a 1.83 mm (0.0720 inch) diameter and a 4-flute spiral configuration, it delivers accurate, smooth bores in materials that demand tight tolerances. The spiral flute geometry evacuates chips efficiently during the cut, and the bright uncoated finish suits a wide range of workpiece materials. The reamer holds a diameter tolerance of 0.0000 to +0.0003 mm, making it suitable for close-tolerance work where bore quality directly affects fit and function. Machinists and toolroom technicians are the primary users.
This reamer is suited for precision boring operations in machine shops, toolrooms, and production environments where small-diameter hole finishing is required. The straight cylindrical shank allows it to be held in standard collet chucks, drill chucks, or floating reamer holders on CNC machining centers, VMCs, and conventional drill presses. It is appropriate for through-hole and blind-hole reaming applications where a consistent finish diameter is critical. The right-hand cutting direction is compatible with standard spindle rotation.
Designed as an OEM-style precision cutting tool for use in standard straight-shank toolholding systems on CNC and manual machine tools accepting small-diameter chucking reamers in the 1.00 mm to 2.00 mm diameter range.
Installation and use of this reamer should be performed by a qualified machinist familiar with precision hole-finishing operations. Ensure the spindle and workpiece are fully secured before engaging the cut, and verify that the toolholder runout is within acceptable limits to protect the reamer geometry and bore quality. Use appropriate cutting fluid for the workpiece material to promote tool life and surface finish. Never force a reamer into an undersized pilot hole — confirm the pre-reamed diameter is within the recommended allowance for the reamer size before proceeding.
