The HERTEL MR34-0559.406 is a solid carbide chucking reamer designed for precision hole finishing in close-tolerance machining applications. With a 1.42 mm (0.0559 inch) diameter and a four-flute spiral configuration, it produces accurate, smooth bores in a single pass. The left-hand spiral flute geometry paired with right-hand cutting action helps pull chips away from the cutting edge, reducing the risk of chip packing in blind or through holes. Overall length is 50 mm (1.9685 inches) with a 10 mm flute length. This reamer is intended for machinists working in precision toolrooms, production shops, and maintenance environments where bore size and finish tolerance are critical.
This chucking reamer is suited for small-diameter reaming operations in metals and engineered materials where tight dimensional control is required. The straight cylindrical shank allows direct mounting in standard collet chucks, drill chucks, or precision floating holders on CNC machining centers, drill presses, or manual lathes. It is not configured as a dowel pin reamer and is not an over or under size variant. The bright uncoated finish makes it a general-purpose option where coating-related dimensional offset is a concern.
Designed as an OEM-style precision chucking reamer for use in standard straight-shank collet chucks, floating reamer holders, and drill chucks on CNC and manual machine tools capable of accommodating a 1.42 mm diameter tool.
Chucking reamers should be installed by a qualified machinist with the spindle fully stopped and locked before tool changes. Ensure the shank is fully seated and securely clamped in the holder to prevent runout, which is critical at this diameter. Use appropriate cutting fluid for the workpiece material and set spindle speed and feed rate per toolmaker recommendations for carbide reamers at this diameter. Do not use a chucking reamer to remove excessive stock — pre-drill or bore to within 0.1 to 0.2 mm of final size before reaming.
