The HERTEL MR34-0476.406 is a solid carbide chucking reamer designed for precision hole finishing in tight-tolerance applications. With a reamer diameter of 0.0476 inches (1.21 mm) and a diameter tolerance of 0.0000 to +0.0003 mm, this tool delivers highly accurate finished bores in a single pass. The overall length is 1.9685 inches (50.00 mm) with a flute length of 0.7087 inches (18.00 mm). The four-flute, left-hand spiral geometry with right-hand cutting direction improves chip evacuation and surface finish in blind and through holes. It is installed by machinists and toolroom technicians working in precision metalworking, mold making, and tight-tolerance production environments.
This chucking reamer is suited for finishing small-diameter holes in ferrous and non-ferrous materials where dimensional accuracy is critical. The bright (polished) coating keeps cutting friction low and surface finish consistent. The straight shank mounts directly in standard drill chucks, collet chucks, and floating reamer holders on CNC machining centers, manual mills, and drill presses. It is not configured as a dowel pin reamer or an over/under size reamer, making it appropriate for standard H-tolerance hole finishing in production and toolroom settings.
Designed as a standard straight-shank chucking reamer for use in drill chucks and collet holders on CNC machining centers, knee mills, and drill presses capable of accepting small-diameter tooling in the 0.0476 inch diameter range.
Chucking reamers of this size are installed by machinists and should be seated securely in a collet or drill chuck with minimal runout to maintain diameter tolerance. Ensure the spindle and workpiece are properly fixtured before engaging the reamer. Use appropriate cutting fluid for the workpiece material to prolong tool life and protect the polished flute finish. Feed rate and spindle speed should follow the tool manufacturer guidelines for solid carbide tooling at this diameter.
