The HERTEL MR34-0449.406 is a solid carbide chucking reamer designed for precision hole finishing in metalworking applications. With a reamer diameter of 0.0449 inches (1.14 mm) and a four-flute spiral configuration, it delivers consistent bore sizing and a bright polished finish in tight-tolerance work. The straight shank mounts directly in standard chucks or collets on CNC machining centers, drill presses, and lathes. Cutting direction is right hand with left-hand spiral flutes, a geometry that helps control chip evacuation in through-hole operations. Overall length is 1.9685 inches (50.00 mm) with a flute length of 0.7087 inches (10.00 mm). Machinists and toolroom technicians working in production or repair environments are the primary users of this tool.
This chucking reamer is suited for finishing small-diameter bores in ferrous and non-ferrous metals, plastics, and composite materials where hole size tolerance is critical. The 0.0449-inch diameter falls within the 0 to 0.0499-inch decimal inch range, making it appropriate for micro-bore applications in instrument components, medical device parts, precision fixtures, and small mechanical assemblies. This tool is installed and operated by machinists and toolroom technicians on powered machine tools only — it is not intended for hand reaming. Secure the straight shank firmly in a collet or drill chuck before operation and verify runout with an indicator before cutting to protect the carbide from chipping. Power down and de-energize the machine spindle completely before changing or inspecting the reamer. Carbide tooling is brittle — avoid dropping or contacting hard surfaces during handling and storage.
