The HERTEL MR34-0079.059 is a solid carbide chucking reamer designed for precision hole finishing in tight-tolerance applications. With a 0.0079-inch (0.20 mm) cutting diameter and a diameter tolerance of 0.0000 to +0.0003 mm, this reamer is built for micro-diameter work where dimensional accuracy is critical. The 4-flute spiral configuration with left-hand spiral and right-hand cutting direction promotes chip evacuation while maintaining a stable cutting action. A bright polished finish reduces friction and extends tool life in ferrous and non-ferrous materials. Machinists and toolroom technicians use this reamer in CNC machining centers, drill presses, and precision boring operations.
This chucking reamer is suited for finishing pre-drilled holes to precise diameters in close-tolerance production and toolroom environments. The straight shank allows direct mounting in standard collet chucks, drill chucks, and floating holders compatible with small-diameter tooling. At 1.9685 inches overall length with a 0.1181-inch flute length (1.50 mm), the compact geometry targets shallow, micro-diameter bore finishing where rigidity and minimal deflection are essential. Typical applications include medical device manufacturing, watchmaking, instrument fabrication, and precision mold work.
Designed as an OEM-style chucking reamer for use in standard straight-shank collet chucks and drill chucks capable of holding small-diameter tooling in the micro-diameter range.
Installation and use should be performed by qualified machinists familiar with precision reaming operations. Secure the straight shank firmly in a collet or chuck rated for the shank diameter before operation. Always ensure the workpiece is properly fixtured and the spindle is at a complete stop before tool changes. Use appropriate cutting fluid for the workpiece material to maintain tool life and surface finish quality.
