The HERTEL K099420AS is a spiral point tap designed for threading through-holes in metalworking applications. It is a 3/4-16 UNF right-hand tap ground to an H3 thread limit and a 3B class of fit, making it suited for precision threaded connections that require consistent tolerance control. Manufactured from high speed steel with a bright finish, it features three flutes and a bottoming chamfer for threading close to the bottom of a blind bore. The 2-inch thread length accommodates deeper engagement in standard production setups. Machinists and toolroom operators use this tap in manual and CNC tapping operations across a range of ferrous and non-ferrous workpiece materials.
This tap is appropriate for use in general manufacturing, maintenance, and repair operations where 3/4-16 UNF threads are required. The bottoming chamfer style makes it particularly useful when maximum thread depth is needed in a blind hole, typically as the finishing pass following a taper or plug tap. It is a single-piece tap intended for machine tapping or hand tapping with appropriate guidance. No coolant-through feature is present, so flood or manual lubrication should be applied at the cutting zone during use.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or direct-use tap for applications requiring a 3/4-16 UNF bottoming tap with H3 thread limit and 3B class of fit in standard machine or hand tapping setups.
This tap should be installed and operated by a qualified machinist familiar with tapping feeds, speeds, and lubrication requirements for the workpiece material. Ensure the workpiece is securely fixtured and the tap is properly aligned before beginning the threading operation. Apply appropriate cutting fluid throughout the operation to reduce heat buildup and extend tool life. Inspect the tap for wear or chipping before each use, and never force a tap that has stopped advancing, as breakage may result.
