The HERTEL K027809AS is a straight flute tap designed for cutting Metric Coarse internal threads in a shop or machining environment. It cuts an M24 x 3.00 thread profile to a 6H class of fit, with a D8 thread limit that keeps tolerances tight for precision threading applications. The plug chamfer style provides a gradual lead-in, making it suitable for through-hole threading as well as blind holes with adequate clearance. Manufactured from high speed steel (HSS) with a bright, uncoated finish, this tap is well suited for use in ferrous and non-ferrous materials where a coating is not required. Overall length is 4-29/32 inches and the tap features 4 straight flutes for chip evacuation in standard threading operations.
This tap is intended for use in manual tapping operations or machine tapping setups where straight flute geometry is appropriate for the material and application. The Metric Coarse thread standard makes it a standard selection for general-purpose fastener applications in industrial maintenance, fabrication, and manufacturing environments. Right-hand thread direction is standard for the vast majority of threaded fastener applications. Licensed machinists, tool-and-die makers, and maintenance technicians are the primary users of this tap size.
Designed as a standard straight flute plug tap for M24 x 3.00 Metric Coarse threaded holes. Fits standard tap holders and tapping heads that accept this shank size.
This tap should be installed and operated by a qualified machinist or maintenance technician familiar with tapping procedures and feeds. Always secure the workpiece and ensure the tap is aligned perpendicular to the work surface before engagement. Apply appropriate cutting fluid for the workpiece material to reduce friction and extend tool life. Inspect the tap for wear or damage before each use and replace when flutes show signs of chipping or the tap produces out-of-tolerance threads.
