The HERTEL K025230AS25 is a straight flute plug tap designed for cutting M6x0.75 Metric Fine internal threads in a range of workpiece materials. Built from High Speed Steel (HSS) with a Titanium Nitride (TiN) coating, this tap offers improved surface hardness and wear resistance compared to uncoated HSS tooling. It features 4 flutes, a plug chamfer for general-purpose through-hole and blind-hole tapping, and a right-hand thread direction. Overall length is 2.5 inches with a thread length of 1 inch and a shank diameter of 0.255 inches. Machinists, toolroom technicians, and maintenance professionals use this tap for precision metric fine thread production.
This tap is suited for production and maintenance tapping operations where M6x0.75 Metric Fine threads are required. The plug chamfer style makes it appropriate for both through-hole applications and moderately deep blind holes where partial thread engagement at the entry is acceptable. The TiN coating reduces friction and extends tool life when working in steel, cast iron, aluminum, and similar machinable materials. It is commonly used in machine tool setups, manual tapping fixtures, and hand tapping operations across light manufacturing, MRO, and toolroom environments.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or direct tooling selection for machine tool spindles, tapping heads, and hand tap wrenches accepting standard straight shank taps with a 0.255-inch shank diameter and M6x0.75 Metric Fine thread specification.
This tap should be installed and used by qualified machinists or toolroom personnel familiar with tapping operations and cutting tool safety. Always ensure the workpiece is securely fixtured and the spindle or tapping head is properly aligned before beginning the thread-cutting cycle. Apply appropriate cutting fluid for the workpiece material to promote tool life and thread quality. Inspect the tap for wear or chipping before each use and replace if damage is observed.
