The HERTEL K020121AS25 is a straight flute tap designed for cutting M4x0.70 metric coarse internal threads in a wide range of metalworking applications. Built from high-speed steel (HSS) with a titanium nitride (TiN) coating, it delivers increased surface hardness and wear resistance compared to uncoated HSS tools. The plug chamfer style provides a balanced lead-in, making it suitable for through-hole tapping operations. With an overall length of 2.125 inches and a thread length of 0.75 inches, the tool fits standard tap holders and machine setups used by machinists, tool-and-die makers, and maintenance technicians.
This tap is suited for production and maintenance threading in ferrous and non-ferrous metals where a straight flute geometry is appropriate. The right-hand thread direction and D2 thread limit make it a practical choice for general-purpose metric threading in both manual tapping and CNC or drill press applications. It is packaged individually and carries a minimum order quantity of one unit, making it accessible for both single-job needs and shop stock replenishment.
Designed as an OEM-style straight flute tap for use in standard tap holders, T-handle wrenches, and machine tool spindles accepting a 0.168-inch shank diameter.
Tapping operations should be performed by a qualified machinist or maintenance technician. Ensure the workpiece is securely fixtured and the pilot hole diameter is correct for M4x0.70 metric coarse thread before beginning. Apply appropriate cutting fluid to reduce heat and extend tool life. For machine tapping, confirm spindle speed and feed rate are appropriate for the workpiece material before engaging the tap.
