The HERTEL K010457AS85 is a metric bottoming thread forming tap manufactured from high-speed steel with a TiCN (titanium carbonitride) coating. Thread forming taps displace material rather than cutting it, producing stronger threads with no chips to clear — a key advantage in blind hole applications. This tap is sized for M6x1 threads and carries a D8 thread limit for close-tolerance work. With an overall length of 2.5 inches and a thread length of 1 inch, it is well suited for production and maintenance threading in metal components.
