The HERTEL K008595AS25 is a straight flute plug tap designed for cutting 3/4-10 UNC right-hand threads in through-holes and open-bottomed applications. Manufactured from high speed steel (HSS) with a titanium nitride (TiN) coating, it delivers extended tool life and reduced friction during the threading operation. The plug chamfer configuration distributes cutting load across the first few leading threads, making it suitable for both hand tapping and machine tapping setups. With a 2-inch thread length and an overall length of 4.25 inches, this tap is sized for standard production and maintenance threading tasks. Machinists, maintenance technicians, and toolroom professionals rely on this geometry for general-purpose ferrous and non-ferrous threading work.
The K008595AS25 is used in machine shops, MRO facilities, and manufacturing environments where 3/4-10 UNC threaded holes are required. The 4-flute straight flute design works best in through-hole applications and in materials that produce broken chips rather than long stringy chips. The H3 thread limit designation provides a controlled oversize fit suitable for use with standard UNC thread tolerances, accommodating coatings or plating applied after threading. This tap is compatible with standard tap holders and collet-style machine tool holders sized for the shank.
Designed as a standard 3/4-10 UNC plug tap for use in tap holders, drill press setups, and CNC tapping operations where straight flute geometry is specified.
This tap should be installed by a qualified machinist or toolroom technician using a properly aligned tap holder or floating tap adapter to minimize thread runout. Secure the workpiece firmly before starting the threading operation and apply a suitable cutting fluid appropriate for the work material. Coolant-through is not supported on this tap, so external lubrication is required. Inspect the tap for wear or chipping before each use, as a damaged tap can destroy the threaded feature and introduce scrap.
