The HERTEL K008279AS is a spiral point tap designed for cutting 10-32 UNF threads in through-hole applications. Built from high speed steel with a bright finish, this 2-flute, bottoming-chamfer tap is suited for threading operations in ferrous and non-ferrous materials where the tap must reach close to the bottom of a blind hole or work through a full thread engagement. The H1 thread limit provides a close tolerance fit, making this tap appropriate for precision fastener threads in mechanical assemblies. With a thread length of 0.875 inches and a right-hand cutting direction, it is a standard bench-to-machine tap for maintenance, fabrication, and production environments.
This tap is used in machine shop, maintenance, and light fabrication settings where 10-32 UNF internal threads are required. The bottoming chamfer allows thread cutting to within one to two threads of the bottom of a blind hole. The spiral point design pushes chips ahead of the cutting flutes, making it effective in through-hole and shallow-depth threading on manual tapping machines, CNC tap cycles, and hand-tapping operations. It is commonly installed by machinists, millwrights, and maintenance technicians working on equipment repair and component fabrication.
Designed as a standard replacement or production spiral point tap for 10-32 UNF threading operations in general machining and maintenance applications.
Installation is performed by machinists or maintenance technicians using a tapping machine, CNC machining center, or manual tap wrench. Ensure the workpiece is securely fixtured and the tap is aligned perpendicular to the hole before beginning the threading cycle. Apply appropriate cutting fluid for the workpiece material to extend tap life and improve thread finish. Never force a tap that has stalled or encountered resistance, as this can result in tap breakage.
