The HERTEL K008151AS25 is a straight flute tap designed for cutting 6-32 UNC internal threads in through-hole and blind-hole applications. Built from high-speed steel (HSS) with a titanium nitride (TiN) coating, it delivers extended tool life and reduced friction at the cutting edge. The plug chamfer style — with a gradual lead-in — makes it well suited for through-hole threading where alignment and chip flow are priorities. With 3 flutes, an overall length of 2 inches, and a thread length of 11/16 inches, this tap is a standard-size tool appropriate for machine shops, maintenance operations, and production environments. It is installed by machinists, tool-and-die technicians, and maintenance mechanics.
This tap is used for cutting right-hand 6-32 UNC threads in metalworking applications including fixture fabrication, electronic enclosure assembly, and general machine maintenance. The 2B class of fit produces a standard commercial thread tolerance suitable for the vast majority of 6-32 fastener assemblies. The H3 thread limit designation indicates the ground-thread tolerance offset, which is appropriate for TiN-coated taps where the coating adds a marginal amount of material to the tap geometry. Coolant-through is not supported on this tool.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or standard production tap for any application requiring 6-32 UNC right-hand internal threads with a 2B class of fit.
This tap is installed by machinists and maintenance technicians using a tap wrench, tapping head, or CNC tapping cycle. Before tapping, confirm the pilot hole is drilled to the correct size for 6-32 UNC threads and that the workpiece is securely fixtured. Apply cutting fluid appropriate for the workpiece material to reduce heat buildup and extend tool life. Do not force or back-drive the tap beyond its design capacity, as straight flute taps can be susceptible to breakage under side loading.
