The HERTEL HTVNMA332420CD is a Polycrystalline Diamond (PCD) turning insert designed for precision metal cutting operations. Manufactured in the HT-VNMA insert style with a diamond (V) shape, this insert features a 3/8 inch inscribed circle and a 1/32 inch corner radius. The HT420CD grade is uncoated, and the insert material is Polycrystalline Diamond, making it well suited for high-speed finishing of non-ferrous metals, composites, and abrasive materials. At 3/16 inch thick with a material grade of C2, it is built for consistent edge retention and dimensional accuracy in turning applications. Licensed machinists and CNC operators install this insert type in standard toolholders on lathes and turning centers.
This insert is intended for use in turning applications where tight tolerances and fine surface finishes are required. The HT-VNMA style fits compatible VNMA-style toolholders commonly used in external and internal turning operations on CNC lathes. Typical applications include finish turning of aluminum alloys, copper, graphite, and other non-ferrous or abrasive workpiece materials. The uncoated PCD construction performs in high-surface-speed conditions where coated carbide would wear prematurely. This insert is sold individually with a minimum order quantity of one.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement insert for VNMA-style turning toolholders accepting a diamond (V) shape insert with a 3/8 inch inscribed circle and clamp or pin holding method.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC operator. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and the machine is in a locked-out, de-energized state before changing inserts. Use the appropriate torque wrench and clamp hardware specified for the toolholder to secure the insert without cracking the PCD substrate. Verify insert seating and edge orientation before resuming cutting operations.
