The HERTEL H95006223 is a Letter X jobber-length drill bit machined from high speed steel with an oxide and TiN coating. It features a 137-degree split point that reduces walking on contact and requires less feed pressure at entry. The 2-flute, right-hand spiral design clears chips efficiently through the full 2.625-inch flute length. At 5.125 inches overall length, the bit fits standard drill chucks used in hand drills, drill presses, and CNC drilling operations. The heavy-duty grade designation indicates the blank and flute geometry are built for repeated use in production or maintenance environments. Trades that regularly drill metal, wood, or composite materials will find this bit suited to general holemaking duties at 0.3970 inch diameter.
This bit is intended for general holemaking applications where a Letter X hole diameter is required. That decimal equivalent is 0.3970 inches, which is commonly used as a tap-drill size or a close-clearance hole in metalworking, plumbing rough-in, electrical panel work, and HVAC equipment fabrication. The jobber series length makes it compatible with most standard drill chucks without requiring an extension. It is equally at home in a hand-held drill, a bench-top drill press, or a CNC machine tool when set up for manual-equivalent feed rates.
Designed as a standard jobber-length drill bit for use in any drill chuck or collet sized for a 0.3970-inch shank, consistent with ANSI-compliant tooling across hand drills, drill presses, and CNC drilling machines.
Installation and use should be performed by a qualified machinist, maintenance technician, or experienced tradesperson familiar with rotating cutting tools. Secure the bit firmly in the chuck and verify runout before drilling. Always power down and lock out the drill press or machine tool before changing bits. Eye protection and appropriate work-holding are required per standard shop safety practices.
